Las Desert Sessions es un proyecto gestado por el ya desaparecido sello discográfico Man's Ruin Records. El plan original era editar una serie de 13 discos de la siguiente forma: primero se editarían 2 discos en vinilo de 10" luego recopilados en un CD, esto del volumen 1 al 12. El volumen 13 sería un rejunte de outtakes y locuras varias (es decir, en total serían 24 vinilos de 10" y 13 CDs).

Luego de la edición del 6º volumen las cosas cambian radicalmente: el sello Man's Ruin Records (Frank Kozik / Lydia Rusell) queda en la ruina y quiebra dejando al proyecto en suspenso. En el año 2001 Josh Homme y Lydia Rusell crean el sello Rekords Rekords y el primer trabajo en editarse son las Desert Sessions 7 y 8, continuando con la saga. La cosa no termina acá...

In conjunction with SOUTHERN LORD RECORDINGS, Rekords Rekords first release will be the DESERT SESSIONS Volumes 7&8. This split label release will be coming out as a DOUBLE 10" and CD. This release promises to be the most intense, heavy and song oriented Desert Session ever recorded!
